The Powell Peralta Bucky Lasek Tortoise Flight Aqua Foil skateboard deck is Bucky's VCJ Tortoise pro model on Flight construction in Shape 297. This deck-only board measures 8.62 inches wide by 32.2 inches long with a 15 inch wheelbase and matched 6.5 inch nose and tail, a long, stable platform built for parks, bowls, and all-terrain ripping. Aqua, also listed as turquoise, foil sits under the Tortoise graphic so metallic color flashes through the ink. Flight construction bonds U.S. hard rock maple with high-strength fiberglass and AirLam epoxy in Ventura, California, for a thinner, stronger deck with lasting pop and no included grip tape.
VCJ Tortoise Graphic on Aqua Foil
Vernon Courtlandt Johnson drew Bucky Lasek's Tortoise in 2019 as a ripper-inspired dino with period Bucky lettering, and this Aqua Foil colorway puts that art over turquoise metal. Screenprinted ink over foil lets light break through the scales and type, which is why Powell notes faint foil process lines as normal. The ink-to-foil bond scratches if the board is yanked from the wrap, so hangers should unpack it gently. Aqua foil against the Tortoise linework is the current Flight color for this Lasek shape.
Shape 297, K21 Concave, and 15 Inch Wheelbase
Powell Shape 297 stretches to 32.2 inches with an 8.62 inch width and a long 15 inch wheelbase that stays planted in transition while the twin 6.5 inch kicks still pop off the lip. K21 concave is a medium-plus radial that locks the feet for vert, park, and bowl without feeling boxed in. Flight's fiber-reinforced epoxy stack is phone-thin, more than twice as strong in Powell tail-break tests, and built so rebound holds after a 7-ply would have lost its snap. That combination is why Lasek still rides this mold hard.
